About King Charles

His Majesty King Charles III, the King of Canada, was born at Buckingham Palace on November 14, 1948. He ascended the throne following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022. He holds the title of Sovereign of Canada, the United Kingdom, and 13 other Commonwealth realms.

The King was formally invested as the Prince of Wales by The Queen on July 1, 1969. He pursued a naval career, following the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and two great-grandfathers. He serves as the president or patron of over 400 organizations, including many in Canada. An early advocate for environmental causes, King Charles III also takes a keen interest in architecture, global sustainability, youth opportunities, education, and faith.
